There is something deeply satisfying about a perfectly made taco salad — warm seasoned beef over crisp romaine, topped with crunchy tortilla chips, melted cheddar and a generous spoonful of fresh salsa. This classic Tex-Mex dinner recipe delivers every time.

The Best Beef for Taco Salad:

An 80/20 ground beef gives the best flavour — enough fat to stay juicy without being greasy. Drain well after browning and add the taco seasoning while the pan is still hot so the spices bloom properly. Ground turkey works too for a lighter version.

The Secret to Keeping It Crunchy:

The tortilla chips are everything — but only if you add them at the very last second. Dress the salad, plate it, then scatter the chips on top just before serving. They absorb moisture fast, so timing is the whole trick.
