Shukr: Recognizing the Blessings We Often Overlook

What Is Shukr?
Shukr means recognizing that everything we have — our health, our family, our provision, even our next breath — is a trust, not something we're simply owed. Most of the time, we live surrounded by blessings without ever truly noticing them.
A Reminder from the Qur'an
وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ
"And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed: 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor].'" (Surah Ibrahim, 14:7)
Shukr isn't just saying "Alhamdulillah" — it's an inner awareness of the blessing paired with using it the right way.
How to Practice Shukr Daily
- After each prayer, name three things you're grateful for that day
- Start your morning with "Alhamdulillah" before anything else
- Even in hardship, deliberately notice what you still have
